Okada Yui announced when her contract expires at the end of this month, she's leaving to be a beautician (I think that's what it said or something?). How unexpected, I mean I knew it would come along with a few other members of the Elder Club, I honestly expected Miyoshi Erika to go first from Biyuuden, she's done almost nothing. Okada has a regular TV show, appears with SINA/Kansai, and does small shows too. Don't leave! I'll miss you and your boobs :(

Okay fine

I'll admit until I found out Hashimoto Kaede's age (like 14) I was okay with watching her first DVD. She doesn't look 14-ish, I thought 17. Then learned she's the youngest Idoling!!! girl so far. Why do I feel so creeped out now? Along with Nakajima's PB (and DVD with it) I felt weird watching and owning it, I'm actually thinking about selling it soon. It just doesn't feel right... I guess cause I'm female or something. I don't know, how many guys feel weird about under 18 solo DVDs? Many wota don't care much, but what about people that are casual fans/ overseas fans? I'm sure even some Japanese don't like it either.

S/mileage's debut single hit #5 with 20,438 sold and has sold so far ~24k
Mano's debut single hit #5 with 20,812 sold and went on to sell ~25k
What irks me is it seems more work is being put into S/mileage. Mano's debut was promoted on TV ONE time on Music Fighter. S/mileage has performed MANY times now and counting. A nifty little copy & paste list:

To be fair I checked Mano's newest singles' TV promotion. I found NONE, I checked around NONE. Only thing was the Oricon PV release on the website. Was that song actually expected to sell? Or were they just having her spit out releases until she folds in on herself? (See: Biyuuden) I think Mano released too much in 2009, she had a single almost every 2-3 months. Her sales have taken a Biyuuden route and after the initial first few releases have fallen smaller and smaller with each one. "Hajimete" has 3 TV perfs, "Sekai' has 2, "Kono Mune" NONE, "Love&Peace" 1 perf, "Haru" NONE.

I'll admit since Mano put out "Hajimete", "Sekai", "Love&Peace" I've been ignoring her. I want the original ballads we were getting in the beginning. "Otome" was a complete false advertisement for me, I thought she'd be the new Nacchi and do mature music an a few upbeats now and then. When "Kono Mune" came out I thought someone had seen the pattern that was going to happen and try her ballad sound to see if anything changed. It was her highest selling first week since "Hajimete", highest charting since "Hajimete" and highest selling since "Sekai". "Haru" is the closest thing to a ballad, and it was an amazing song despite not  being a full blown one. I still thought it was catchy whereas "Onegai" bored the crap out of me, and Mano being auto-tuned sounded scary. She just sounded freaky in the beginning, the PV was shit. After seeing all her PV, generally she has a cheap feel to them but "Onegai' put a nail in the coffin for failing PVs. "Haru" was a step up kinda, but "Onegai" took the whole close up in basic background thing and just re-did it for a second single.

I'm so disappointed in the fact that Mano is no longer even being promoted. All the promotion went to S/mileage it seems. Same for C-ute & Musume, Berryz seems to get a fair amount plus anime tie ins. If all that promo that went into it like Musume's "Nanchatte" and came out with some good sales (better than we've seen) it could hold some promise in it, but not much. I just wish something could change in the promotion department, anything.

I don't know where to start. I mean Koharu is a touchy subject and is quite subjective when trying to analyze but why do people have to get offensive, and bitchy?

While Yossha's blog isn't around anymore I still enjoy reading old entries. I looked at the Kusumi Koharu Overview only to spot this.

Don't know why this made me LOL so hard. You can defend her to the ends of the earth but it still doesn't make you right.
1.) She joined on May 1st 2005 her birthday is in July she was tweleve when she joined. If you mean she debuted as a soloist yes then she was 13 at the time of Koi Kana.

2.) 1 million? Really not in H!P history has anything DEBUTED at 1 million, over time of weeks yes it has. Koi Kana it #8 on the first day and sold that week a plain 18k. Maybe they thought of Balalaika? It hit #9 on first day (lower!) and sold 28k and 72k total. I think their commas when reading numbers are messed up.

3.) Anyone can make fun of anyone, it's not some secret super power.

PVcheap, outfits are crap (unique but still crap), dance is predictable, and as I've said about the song since day 1: Nanchatte + Genki Pika Pika = Seishun Collection Which is horrible.

Only reason I'm buying this is cause the covers are actually not that bad. Type A & RE are just awesome.

I remember a few pics like this appearing. Everyone' (a term I'm using loosely) did do that, it was either team Love Nanchatte or team Love Kimagure. Overall it seemed like team Hate OGMNI. Myself was none because I liked all, I say stick to whatever is selling. If Nanchatte got sales like that keep up the kind of work, but make it slightly different. (Which can be seen by Shouganai & Nanchatte, both doing records for Musume in the recent years.) Because in the end the idol scene isn't just to please us fans it's for the girls to make earnings. Sure, they could enjoy their work and have fun but the hard facts are it's about making a living for yourself.

Not like I expected much, but the covers kinda gave a false hope. The PV concept was great just putting it together made it cheap and not that great to watch. I've listened to the song 20 times on repeat, and remember nothing from it except the intro. Not exactly the most memorable...

I like quality, alot of people only have known Musume from 2005+ (there is of course people who have longer). When I think the online H!P boom started, myself started in 2003 just before Kei's graduation and I have to say what music is being put out compared to then (I'm never talking sales here, only quality) is nothing. Absolutely nothing, adding the 5th gen so early was the downfall. From there we lost 3 key members (Kei, Maki, Nacchi) not to mention between HSW-Hyokkori Hyoutanjima was the most childish (sans Do it! Now) songs ever. No one complains there, and consider those some of the "best". After Do It! Now, Maki's last, you can clearly see the downward slump after each release, Kaori & Hitomi leaving even made it worse. Only things to spike it were "Kananshimi Twilight" & "Nanchatte Renai".

The last song I ever listened to and loved on first listen was AFOD, pretty much the 1-4 gen suffered as 5-8 came in. The unbalanced age was a big factor, Yuko looked so awkward in HSW, and Niigaki looked out of place in Do it! Now. :/ I think Tsunku should drop all pre-notions on how to produce music and do something completely 100% different than anything they've done and do a huge restart. Which was what basically happened with LOVE Machine, compare that to Morning Coffee. AKB48 hasn't done anything extremely in your face sexy (Seifuku Jama wo Suru doesn't count) but if leaving the "idol fun" idea behind there could be somthing. MAX is attempting it but doesn't have any promotion.

If they dropped everything did something unlike any other idol group, there could be a huge jump again. Like LOVE Machine! I'm wanting something like these:

Elder Club

Are there girls going to do anything release wise? Maeda is the only one, and probably the least expected. I figured Nacchi or Yuko would be the first. Her sales are lower than theirs, not that I don't love her but I just don't understand. Melon Kinenbi was very active and then went *BOOM*. Suddenly, they were doing decent but I guess they were sick of being the bottom of the barrel. Yaguchi (no suprise) and Miki have been appearing in many many TV shows and figured they'd do something. Yaguchi did some boring anime work but that I don't consider a real solo work release. Tsuji did a CM song, again doesn't count in my book. The other girls never appear unless with each other, like in Utaban or special TV shows. Their careers are just rotting away. I know Aya said she wants a break from touring, but she's done small dinner stuff since them. Nacchi released a live DVD. Ongaku Gatas did a indies release that I barely remember, but still tour. How the hell they do that off like three singles and an album I don't know. The set lists are just a bunch of other H!P songs. Yuko and Iida are complete mysteries, especially Iida. She's barely done anything since back off maturnity leave, only concerts/TV. Yuko is a complete WTF. I know she does small dinner stuff. Keichan is sticking to what she's always done - nothing.... but small lives with other members. Makoto is doing theater/plays, which is next to nothing interesting.

tl;dr - WHERE ARE YOU ELDERS?

Male Wota VS Female Wota

I'm using the term wota to mean any H!P fan for this. After the chat came up on H!O on this picture post, I had to use my math skills to show how many female fans there is per male.
One example I wrote at H!O:
Judging by the registered member list there is 138 pages of female members, with 20 on each, except the last one (with 2) it would equal 2,742 girls here. And 4,640 male. Lol, and 71,589 (3580 pages) members only 7,382 have specified their gender. So males are double to females registered here, with their gender set. So I can totally see why people think the female fans are almost non existent.
For every ~1.70 (yeah 3/4 a person) male fan there is one female at H!O. So if you take the Nine Smile concert final day hall seating capacity (imagine if I used the EC graduation numbers) which is 2,062. So if 2,062 gender set H!Onliners went to the Nine Smile concert only only about ~1,212 of those attendees would be female. (Coincidentally when divided equal out to 1.70, I think?) So males have a upperhand but females are around just not as many.

But if you factor in minors (as in age) I'm not sure the numbers will stay the same

Females seem to be out numbered with the exception of MM-BBS. So many leechers!

Now to compare that to the Elder Club graduation at Yokohama arena, much like I did with Nine Smile. The capacity is 17,000, which is nothing to the 8,043 people. I will pretend I have 17k. Let's say the arena was sold out, looked like it was anyway. :P I divided by the 1.28 ratio = 13,281 males would have attended. Making it 3,719 females at that concert. Quite a huge gap!! Ratio - ~3.57 males per female.

Summary:
-It's seems males generally dominate, idols are projected to them purposely. Which can explain this.
-What can't be explained is what draws females to idols.
-The variable of children/minors can affect this.
-For every 3 and 1/2 males that attended equaled 1 female.

Even your dear "never sounds bad" Takahashi (or Yajima, ever hear her live and then listen to her on CD? HUGE difference!) sounds horrible.

Srsly, what the fuck did I just watch?

The H!P shuffle date concert sucked, mostly. The only parts I watched were Aa!, Zoku Biyuuden,DEF.DIVA2, Nochiura Natsumi2.

Aa! - Eeh, kinda unemotional. Suzuki took most of Reina's lines and some of her original. Saho (?) took some of Reina and Airi's lines. Natsuyaki stayed the same. Too many Buono! members really. Saho sounded horrible, all those new eggs need some serious vocal practice/ growing up. New song bored me to death. Suzuki's acapella thing was terrible, my ears wanted to close. I had to skip it, sorry Suzuki your just not as good sounding as you think.

DEF.DIVA remake - OMFGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In a good way, this was phenomenal.  (I am biased to this song)

I absolutely love the people chosen for this. The outfits I liked because they were mirroring the original, sans the fluffy green thingies. GotoReina (that name sounds awesome) was somewhat of a stretch though. In her "Bye Bye" she sounded like she wasn't even trying to sing in this at all, just random talk/singing. Know what I mean? She killed the song a bit. AbeSayumi was quite nice sounding, not nasal as much. Brownie points for you! IshikawaMaasa was good sounding, why does she not get more lines in singles. Seriously yo. Even if she always looks like deer in headlights. MatsuuraMaimi was okay sounding. She sounds like always, a little flat. Her hair is growing, she looks like a young Arihara right now :D

Shimei Ai was quite a mess. I liked it but Shimizu felt out of place, she's not the greatest singer. What happened in H-K she wasn't that bad. I like her hair if that counts. Outfits are lame. TAKAHSHI PLEASE STOP SMILING AFTER EVERY LINE YOU SING. Kamei's "hito wa mina yowai hodo" was just aweful. She connot and will never be able to hit high notes. The dance is the sex. >:D

Zoku Biyuuden - ONRII ONRII ONRII CHUU

New song sucks. Moving on to Koisuru Angel Heart nao. One word on the outfits, fugly. Trying to imitate Biyuuden's sexy looks came out terrible, I find none of the members sexy. Only Michishige in certain looks and outfits. But her voice just about mirrors Ishikawa's perfectly. Suguyaga's "tatta ima kono ba de.." was scary. In the concert at about 1:24:20. Seriously go look. Junjun was bleh sounding as usual.

OMFG it's creepy somewhat receeding bald guy from Morning Musume's Yomiuri Land EAST concert!!!! And his shirt is pink, Michishige fan. ONOES, not my girl. He didn't have that shirt before, and seemed to have gotten a better seat this time. I'm going to go through some recent concerts to find more of him, I'll have to keep lookout through new stuff too for this guy.

RATING: 4.5/10 Extra .5 for the balding guy. (Doesn't he have a family, wife, kids or something? He looks like a Riiman or something.)
